Legg-Perthes Disease

Hi, My name is Nora. I am an 8 month old Pug that is normally the life of the party. My mom and dad noticed I hadn’t been myself and I was favoring one of my back legs. They were concered about me, so they took me into seNora_Taulbee_Small_2e Dr.  Wysocki. My mom and dad explained what they had been noticing and Dr. Wysocki decided I needed an x-ray. Boy, was I glad they did! When he brought the x-rays in to show my family, he explained to them that I had a condition called Aspetic Necrosis of the femoral head or Legg-Perthes disease. That means I have a painful hip condition that is caused by interruption of blood flow to the head of the femur which causes it to die. OUCH!! My mom and dad quickly scheduled me for surgery.

Since then, I’ve had my surgery to correct this problem. Everything went very smoothly, thanks to Dr. Wysocki and all the love and attention I received from his staff. I recently had my sutures out and am quickly getting my spunkiness back. My family and I are so thankful to Dr. Wysocki and his entire staff at Avery Creek Pet Hospital for making sure I could chase the vacuum cleaner again.
